Starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lance Henrikson, Yancy Butler, Arnold Vosloo, Wilford Brimley |
Van Damme continues his action-hero ways as Chance Boudreaux, a Cajun merchant seaman, who comes to the rescue of Natasha, albeit with lots of violence. Wilford Brimley provides the humor as Chance's bayou uncle. This film marks the American directorial debut of over-the-top Hong King action director John Woo, who had to tone down his stylish effects and cut some of the more violent scenes to earn an "R" rating for the theatrical release of the film. This version of the film is a workprint, preceded by scrolling text explaining that the film is incomplete, and asking the viewer to provide comments on the film after viewing. There are two running timers on the picture, and there are no credits. This print resembles the director's cut of the film, including over 20 minutes of footage edited from the theatrical release. An uber-celebration of depravity! Rob Zombie's long awaited thriller about a pair of couples on a road trip who happen to stumble into the wrong town. Their curiosities get the better of them, and they end up in the House of 1000 Corpses, where a famiy of psychotic folks commit all sorts of wicked deeds on their visitors. This is a workprint version of the film, with a running timer on the screen. It appears to be the R-rated version.

Jim Morrison can describe this film better than I can: "It's more poetic, more of an exercise for me, kind of a warm-up. Essentially there's no plot, no story in the traditional sense...A person, played by me, comes down out of the mountains and hitchhikes his way through the desert. We don't see it, but we later assume that he stole a car and he drives into the city and it just ends there. He checks into a hotel and goes out to a nightclub or something. It just kind of ends like that...and when the musics over, turn off the lights...it is a very beautiful film."
